Bill McCarver – Senior Vice Commander
Bill is a Vietnam Veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force as a Sentry Dog Handler. He was stationed at Phan Rang AB, RVN, from 1967 to 1968.
After he was discharged from the Air Force, Bill had a distinguished career as a Police Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, and K-9 handler with a Northern California police department.
Bill is a charter member of VFW Post 12215 and has served as the Sr. Vice Commander since the post was established.
Bill is the founder and director of the Post’s Rescue A Hero program. The program rescues dogs from shelters or rescues, trains them as companion or service dogs, and then finds homes for them with Veterans and First Responders at no cost to the recipients.
